Publication Ethics

The Journal of Science (JoS) is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in all aspects of the publication process. Authors, reviewers, editors, and all stakeholders involved in the publication process are expected to adhere to the following ethical principles:

1. Authorship and Author Responsibilities:

  • All authors must have made a significant intellectual contribution to the research presented in the manuscript and be accountable for its content.
  • Authors should accurately report their research methods and results and disclose any conflicts of interest or funding sources.
  • Plagiarism, data fabrication, and data falsification are strictly prohibited.

2. Peer Review Process:

  • Reviewers are expected to conduct fair and unbiased evaluations of submitted manuscripts.
  • Reviewers should promptly disclose any conflicts of interest that may compromise their objectivity or impartiality.
  • Editors are responsible for selecting competent and impartial reviewers and ensuring that the review process is transparent and confidential.

3. Editorial Responsibilities:

  • Editors will make publication decisions based on the merit of the work and its significance to the scientific community, without regard to race, gender, religion, nationality, or other irrelevant factors.
  • Editors should handle submissions objectively and confidentially, disclosing conflicts of interest and recusing themselves from any submission where they have a personal or financial interest.

4. Transparency and Data Integrity:

  • Authors should provide access to the raw data and methodology used in their research upon request by the journal or readers.
  • Any errors or inaccuracies discovered in published articles should be promptly corrected through retractions, corrections, or clarifications as necessary.

5. Ethical Treatment of Human and Animal Subjects:

  • Research involving human or animal subjects must adhere to ethical guidelines and obtain necessary approvals from relevant ethics committees or institutional review boards.
  • Authors must provide informed consent for research involving human subjects and ensure that their identities and privacy are protected.

6. Conflicts of Interest:

  • Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any conflicts of interest that may compromise the objectivity or integrity of the publication process.
  • Conflicts of interest could include financial interests, personal relationships, or academic affiliations that may unduly influence decisions or perceptions.

7. Plagiarism and Duplicate Submission:

  • Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism (duplicate submission), is unacceptable and will result in immediate rejection or retraction of the manuscript.
  • Authors should properly cite and reference the work of others, including their own prior work, when applicable.

8. Corrections and Retractions:

  • If errors or misconduct are identified post-publication, the journal will take appropriate action, including issuing corrections, retractions, or clarifications as needed.

By adhering to these ethical principles, we aim to maintain the integrity and credibility of the Journal of Science, ensuring that our publication contributes positively to the advancement of scientific knowledge and the global scientific community. Violations of these ethical guidelines may result in sanctions, including rejection of manuscripts, retractions, or reporting to relevant authorities.
