Leconfe: An Innovative Academic Conference Management Platform for Enhancing Scholarly Communication and Publishing
Abstract
Academic conferences are essential for fostering scholarly communication, knowledge dissemination, and collaboration among researchers. However, many institutions face challenges in managing the end-to-end conference workflow, particularly when using fragmented tools such as WordPress, EasyChair, or outdated platforms like OCS (Open Conference Systems). This paper introduces Leconfe, a free and open platform designed to streamline the management of academic conferences, from submission, peer review, registration, scheduling, to final publishing. Developed after extensive research and adaptation of academic workflows, Leconfe provides an integrated solution that improves efficiency, enhances user experience, and supports multilingual publishing. Compared to existing solutions, Leconfe emphasizes flexibility, accessibility, and search engine visibility, making it highly suitable for universities, research institutions, and conference organizers in Southeast Asia and beyond. The implementation of Leconfe also strengthens indexing compatibility, search engine optimization (SEO) for conference proceedings, and long-term archiving of events, addressing limitations found in existing systems such as OJS or OCS.
